Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci was born on December 12, 1961 within Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onesti), Romania. Nadia is the Romanian Olympic gymnast and she has the record of being recognized with 10/10 scores at an Olympic competition. Bela Karrolyi who was the Romanian gymnastics trainer who became Comaneci's coach later in life found her around the age of six. Comaneci competed for the first time in the 1969 national junior championships, placing 13th. In the following year, she became champion. In 1972, at an event for communist-controlled countries' juniors before the Olympics, she was awarded three gold medals. In 1973 and '74 she was the junior champion in all aspects. When she competed for the first time at the senior level, Lyudmila Turkishcheva of Russia won five gold medals as well being awarded a silver. The first female to complete a reverse double salo on the bar with a parallel surface when she won the American Cup, New York City 1976. Carol Wayne..........................
