Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actor, dancer and singer since the early 1990s. Some of her early Broadway shows included Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. Her first Tony Award was given to her for the role of Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashford, a Tony Award-winning actor and director, has spent the majority of her career working with well-known directors and actors on stage and screen. Ashford's next project will be an exclusive Hulu show called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show premieres on November 22, and Ashford stars opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford's upcoming project is Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust which he is starring in with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. This film is an Hulu Original and will be streamed on Disney DTC. Ashford, who will appear opposite Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the March 2023 production of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will lead the production. Ashford was most recently seen as Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment which is based on the national crisis that swept up Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters as the nation's first impeachment hearings in over a century. Ashford appeared for two seasons in CBS popular comedy B Positive. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the famous Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not unfamiliar with Broadway has won two Tony Drama Desk Awards as in addition to Outer Critics Circle Awards in her role as Essie. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the original role of Lauren in Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway performances. Ashford is a Denver native who now divides her time between Los Angeles.
